In the Morro de Puerto La Cruz, is located the Hotel & Spa Mare-Mares, undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Venezuela. The pool is simply stunning. At times, a sign announces the arrival of the waves and all go out to enjoy that feeling so nice. The hotel also features a marina, a recreation club for children, preschool, aerobics, sauna, spinning, exercise room, racquet ball, tennis, pool, and is next to a golf course. In short, all that pc. want to spend big. Among the services and amenities offered to passengers, have freshwater pool, poolside bar, gift shop, laundry service, daily entertainment, among other services. Otherwise, during the pandemic when you have to wash your hands often, you risk getting allergic reactions trying to wash your hands with almond soap. On number 2 of the hotel's downside was the front desk lack of knowledge of the hotel's amenities. I found out from a review written by a previous guest of the Seaside Villa (a smaller studio type villa) that the TV at the Seaside has Netflix and youtube buttons on the remote (She took a picture of it). I assumed the Bluewave, a bigger and more expensive villa, would at least have the same feature. I called front desk and was given an immediate NO. They did not yet have that feature. 's strange, so that night, while having nothing much to do, I tried to flick around the remote and aha.... I stumbled upon both features. (I clicked on the diamond button in the middle of the remote). After all, the TV in the living room was a Samsung smart tv (the ones in the bedroom weren't) although not one of the newer ones. Another reason why I think the staff needs to be given a more thorough knowledge of the villa was when I called to ask about where I could find the "do not disturb" and "please clean room" sign.
We were seeking heat and shelter, everything else in town was full. They had rooms. That was awesome! The staff was a skeleton crew since many people could not travel the storm. The staff were amazingly friendly and even under such immense pressure they were doing their best. It was crazy mad house and they had very skeleton crew so we were accidentally given a room someone was already in, luckily they were out, and then had to wait in a long line to get an empty room. When we did that room had no heat so they changed us again. We finally got a room but in day 2 no water so we decided not to spend another chunk of change for a hotel with no water and we went home. The cost of the hotel given the limited services was tough because they were all that was open so they sold out and and were able to do so because people were desperate. How close it was to Moody Gardens It was dirty, overpriced, beds were uncomfortable, and there was no type of food being served on site. I don't normally get massages on vacation (I WISH I did! ), but I did on my most recent trip to St. George Island. I had just finished chemotherapy on Friday, May 25 and was going to go on Thursday, May 31. The owner of the salon (also named Shannon) was SO gracious. Then... Tropical Storm Alberto came through and we were forced to evacuate-and spend extra $$ on lodging that we weren't anticipating. So I cancelled. Still they were gracious. Then my husband said I could go, so they rescheduled me for Friday, June 1. Tay is a pro. She made sure that medically I was ok to go and we were on the same page. She is a fighter herself, too! She truly made me feel better. Although I've been coming to SGI for almost 10 years, I've never had a massage. But I think I will have to make Tay at The Edge part of my SGI vacation from now on!!
